I. The Immensity of God’s Sovereignty
- God’s sovereignty is beyond our understanding or fully finding out, yet is a comfort to those who trust in Him Isa. 40:10-14
- God sovereignly oversees and overrules all the affairs of man; and providence determines His purpose
- God’s sovereignty reminds us to question ourselves before we question God; and respond to events with sobriety/seriousness, empathy, and courage Job 38-42
- God’s sovereignty provides us with wisdom and truth through His Word, so we can do His will
II. The Instruction of God’s Sovereignty
- The knowledge of God’s sovereignty teaches us to live responsibly and obediently Prov. 12:15
- God knows and judges our motives and evaluates our ways because he is sovereign Acts 5:1-4
- Commit your ways to the Lord because He is in control and He holds us accountable for our ways
- Success is seeking and submitting to God’s will, so that you can align your ways and purposes with His plan Matt. 6:10
III. The Implications of God’s Sovereignty
- God’s sovereignty changes the way we think and act because we know God loves us
- We must demonstrate humility in our plans
- We must demonstrate respect for our salvation
- We must demonstrate patience with the people, the events, and the circumstances of life. Ps. 29:10, 11; Isa. 26:3, 4
